What is the meaning of this 'dubbing literature' ?
dublit is a publishing and distribution platform for short-format literature.
dublit welcomes professional and emerging writers alike and provides a simple and technologically effective way to distribute literature to a very broad audience.
dublit, short for "dubbing literature" cultivates (and connects people through) the art of short stories, poetry and personal essays.
Why dublit was created:
0. Original, interesting, affordable literature is not easy enough to find (especially audio) . We estimate that at least 20 million short stories are written each year in the US alone. Of course, not all of these are good and no single story appeals to everyone. But when audiobooks routinely cost $30-$40 a pop and don't even look cool on your bookshelf, and 19,999,000 stories never see the light of day, something has gone awry...
1. We love writing and listening. A story, especially is spoken format, is probably one of the world's oldest kinds of entertainment. Long before the advent of recorded sound, even before the written word, people told stories out loud to each other.
2. New technology can do amazing things for old traditions. These days computers and the internet do wonderful things very quickly. They help us find obscure facts, research interesting (and bland) subjects, lend us opportunities to connect with people whom we otherwise would never have met, and computers allow us to entertain each other in ways never imagined even 50 years ago (not that any of the founders were alive 50 years ago, we're just saying...)
3. Writers founded this community. Professional writers, aspiring professional writers, would-be writers, and kicking-the-tire writers. We offer up our wares for each other in an effort to gain feedback and to improve out craft. We offer up our wares for the greater public because without an audience, a story can get lost and never find a home.
4. We = You. We invite you (writer or not) to search our vast collection of user-generated stories, to find those that interest you most, and to listen to them at your leisure. We ask that you return to the site as often as possible, to leave feedback on those stories and to find new ones. Professional, amateur, or severely amateur writers alike, we encourage you to record and publish your work here for others.
What our Community Offers:
1. An ever-growing library of short stories, essays and poetry (in audio and text format), available for absolutely free.
2. Responsive and courteous feedback from a community that is interested in the development of literary work.
3. TBA: Professional reviews (at a small fee) for those writers who would like to gain further insight from published authors, editors and educators.
4. Coming soon: The ablity to connect with professional voice actors who will produce your story for a small fee.
4. Potential for exposure to a wide audience through cutting-edge technology. Members can use our tools to create public and private "shelves" for both in-progress and finished works.
5. Forum to meet and connect with like-minded individuals. Create your own profile pages and link to whomever you choose - a fan, a publisher, a mentor, family-member or a friend.
Please let us know what you think!
